Sample Sale: The Kooples

Over the past few years, The Kooples has become one of my favorite brands. The Kooples combination of edgy and classic tailored pieces truly fit my personal style.With The Kooples sample sale in full effect, I stopped by 150 Greene Street in SoHo. Since the sale ends this Monday at 8pm prices were an additional 20% off the price list.

The space was neatly organized with employees restocking merchandise.Rolling racks separated aisles with women’s clothing on the right and men’s on the left. For womenswear, dresses, blouses, denim outerwear, and suit pieces were the main attraction. For menswear, suit separates were the main attraction. In the far back were accessories and shoes for both men and women.

Sample Sale: BaubleBar

Yesterday, I stopped by one of my favorite sample sales spots, 260 Fifth Avenue in the Flatiron District of New York City. There was a bit of a line to enter the sale but it moved quickly. Statement necklaces were the main attraction with earrings and rings in a close second place. While there were also a handful of accessories such as phone cases and hair accessories. Necklaces were displayed on tables and were color coated by price tag. Rings began at $5.00 and necklaces went up to $25.00. I believe that there will be reductions later on this week.

Diesel Sample Sale

I stopped by Century21 in the Financial District for the Diesel Sample Sale on opening day. C21 is known to host private sample sales every 2-3 weeks and this sample sale was honoring discounts of 75% off original prices. The main attraction was women’s denim which was arranged on racks by sizes and prices began at $55.00. While I found many of the styles to be outdated with super low rise denim styles their were plenty of styles and sizes to choose from. There are also a few racks of women’s dresses and jumpsuits and prices are beginning in the $75.00 range. There is also a rack of the Diesel Black and Gold collection but a few of the items look damaged. I found the sale to have very low prices but I wasn’t impressed with any of the merchandise and left empty handed. The sale runs throughout Sunday afternoon and as such we should expect further reductions shortly.

Proenza Schouler Sample Sale

On opening day I stopped by the Proenza Schouler Sample Sale at Century21 downtown. The tiny alcove of the C21 store was packed with shoppers attempting to snag fashion deals. The main attraction of the sale was primarily handbags and small leather goods. However, there was a limit to 4 handbags and 3 leather goods per person. Along with the handbags, the second main attraction of the sale was women’s accessories. The cheapest item at the sample sale was a black Proenza Schouler back baseball cap for $29.00. In my opinion, the ready-to-wear was not as heavily discounted as the handbags and hopefully we will see further reductions throughout the week. If you are looking for PS13 PS11s handbag this is the sale for you as prices start at $299.00

James Perse Sample Sale VS. Saks Off Fifth

The other day I stopped at one of my favorite sample sale hot spots, 260 Fifth Ave, for a James Perse sample sale. I love 260 Fifth, truly a great location that allows shoppers to try on merchandise and is always fairly well-organized. For the James Perse sample sale I resisted temptation and waited until the second to last of day of the sale with the hope of scoring an extra discount. With no further reductions or markdowns I was disappointed by the price points. There was a good amount of men’s and women’s apparel in a variety of sizes but the prices seemed entirely too high by sample sale standards (see price list below). Saks Off Fifth, one of my favorite online retailers, is actually offering James Perse apparel at significantly lower prices. Women’s long sleeve tops start at $24.99 at Saks Off Fifth versus $40.00 at the James Perse sample sale. Save your time and money by skipping the 260 Fifth sample sale and instead head to Saks Off Fifth to pick up your James Perse apparel.
